I posted more details at my melanoma site, but the basics are that Dr. L doesn’t know what is causing my pain and is sending me for a CT on Monday to figure it out. Could be another ovarian cyst, could be scar tissue, could be….well, who knows. We’ll just wait to see.
Now, if someone could hurry up and make decent tasting contrast, I’d be golden.
No news is, well, no news…
New year, same (?) pain
It’s apparently a new year. I mean, I KNOW it is, we even had friends over to celebrate the other night, watching the ball drop in Times Square.
Sadly, I was suffering from severe back/hip/leg pain that really beat me up by midnight. I’ve been struggling with it for about a week now. I’ve been to the chiropractor and even had a massage. I’ve been living on Excedrin Back & Body, heating pads and ice packs. Monday, it finally seemed to subside a little bit. I was figuring it was maybe a pinched nerve or worse, another ovarian cyst.
I had been planning on calling my OBGYN on Tuesday morning, but the cyst-like pain was gone, and I was down to a slight pain in my hip. In the meantime, though, a lovely gastro-issue has taken up residence, and the cough I picked up from Preston has settled nicely into my chest.
I’ve been a medical nightmare (ok, bad dream) since Thanksgiving!!
And then tonight, my lovely husband told me I’m “always” hurt or sick. Ouch.
As if I want to be. Because I’ll be honest, if there were a chance that I could be just a little sick and get a couple of days …
The Big O.C.
How was your week? This has been mine…
The back pain started Tuesday and got worse by Wednesday. Overnight Wednesday, it radiated to my right hip and front right lower abdominal area. Thursday it was mostly in hip and abdomen, so I figured I had over-compensated with the back pain. I joked at work that I needed a hip replacement due to old age and couldn’t believe the chiro didn’t open until 2!! At 2:02, I ran (ok, sped) to the Chiropractor for an adjustment, and it really seemed marginally better. Dr. J said I was really out of alignment.
So, I took some Advil, suffered through getting boys to dentist and soccer practice; whined a bit (ok. A LOT) and called it a day.
Thursday night the pain worsened, especially in the front and I was shivering. I’m rarely cold, so that was odd.
Friday morning I woke up nauseous, so after getting Matt to the ped for his yearly physical, I came home and went back to bed, had chills and sweats and the nausea got worse. I haltingly decided I should go to Urgent Care to rule out appendicitis. The doctor immediately “transferred” me …
Recovery
Hi! Here I am, 3 days post-op. I finally got into the shower a little while ago – felt good to be clean, but by the end of it, I was pretty wiped out again. I also had to change my bandage on my lymph node incision (which is the one that stretches and pulls and burns, btw), so that wasn’t very enjoyable.
But I am clean, and freshly bandaged. If you are curious or like gross pictures, here is a picture of my leg incision from today. Seriously, if stitches and stuff make you squeamish, don’t look, eh? Couldn’t get a picture of the other incision – first, it’s very upper thigh – in the crease of the leg, and I can’t bend without stretching it, which makes it hurt like hell. Besides, they wouldn’t let me shave for a week before the surgery and then they didn’t shave me when they did the surgery! Nobody needs to see that. hehe
I’ve been up and around more today – even started some laundry and crutched around a little…plus let the dog out! It doesn’t seem to take very much to exhaust me though, so …
