Getting things done

August 8, 2008 · 2 comments

Ok, so this morning we set the date and time for the boys’ combined birthday party! Go me.  Of course, we still have to get them to agree on a theme.  They have it narrowed down to Speed Racer, Wall-E, Kung Fu Panda, Hot Wheels, and Spongebob.  Or Spiderman. Or trains.

And of course, now I look around my house and yard and think of all of the things that need to be done around here that I would, of course, like to have done before everyone comes over.  You know, the things we planned on doing at the beginning of the summer (or prior) and haven’t quite gotten around to yet?  Just for example, and in no particular order:

In the front yard

  1. Fix fallen apart wood wall
  2. Subtract planting(s) from one side of porch
  3. Add planting(s) to other side of porch
  4. Re-mulch entire area

In the back yard

  1. Get grass and weeds out of play area mulch
  2. Pull weeds in back planting area
  3. Landscape fabric back area
  4. Re-mulch back area
  5. Clean out under the deck
  6. Fix lattice under deck
  7. finish plantings under deck edge

In the house….holy crap….

  1. Remove wallpaper and paint half-bath
  2. Clean (or get new) blinds for kitchen (they are nasty!)
  3. Wash windows (in and out)
  4. Paint foyer
  5. Replace light fixture in foyer
  6. paint stairwell going up, plus landing
  7. replace light fixture in landing
  8. paint stairwell going up, plus upstairs hallway
  9. paint our bedroom
  10. re-paint family room
  11. replace our bathroom blinds
  12. new blinds for Matt’s room (i broke his)

There there is the stuff that we need to do related to clutter:

  1. Clean out both kid closets
  2. Clean up shoes in mudroom
  3. CLEAN OUT THE BASEMENT

And that’s what I can come up with off the top of my head.  Anyone want to place bets on what we get done in the next 2 weeks?  How about by the end of the year?

I’m wicked knackered just READING your list!

Have seen you around, all over the place and it just took me forever to get my big butt here and say hello! I was gonna lurk for a while, but heck, I’m here, might as well let you know.

Coming back for more!

Giiiiiiiiiirl, you know guests make more of a mess than you’ve already got, so just make sure all the crayons and granola bars are removed from couch cushions, there’s a path to walk from door to bathroom, and leave the rest of the cleaning for when the guests leave!! I always kick myself for going crazy clean first then cleaning again after they leave! Who’s got time to do it all once, let alone twice!!!!!!!??? 😆
