Yes, I shall join the masses and write about Mother’s Day today. I mean, that is what it is, so there ya go.

I got to sleep in.  Probably would have dozed in and out awhile longer, but the dog started licking my head so I had to get up to let her out.
I got to relax on the couch while breakfast was being made for me (ham & cheese omelet and hash browns)
I went and picked out my porch flowers and some dirt – just me and the dog and no time limit
Dog and I spent the afternoon working in the dirt and sun. Well, I worked, she bugged me to throw the ball 9,640 times in a row.

When my boys came home from visiting their grandma, I got MORE flowers – for the deck  – and awesome cards.
I got to take a really long (and much-needed) quiet, hot, long shower
My man is making me my favorite dinner; my boys are entertaining themselves and I am under a blanket with my laptop on the comfy chair.
The tv? NOT ON.  …

I love that my boys are older and we don’t have to leave the house with 437 pounds of crap to go out for an hour. I love not having a diaper bag, formula, food, toys, clothes, blankets and all of the other junk that goes hand in hand with infants. Preston still has no interest in wearing underwear, so we do still have diapers and while it’s annoying, so is potty training, so I’m ambivalent right now.
Matt had his first concert last night – he wore a shirt and tie at his own request and looked so damn grown up that I could have cried and signed him up for prep school at the same time. Preston is counting and talking so well and knows all his colors and is doing great with his letters; ready for preschool in the fall (you know, if he decides to use the toilet before then). Rarely do either of them sleep silently through the night (unless they are both in the big bed), but for the most part, they are fantastic, independent little boys.
And everybody still wants to know when we’re going to try for a little girl.

Today was absolutely gorgeous – low 70s and sunny with a slight breeze.  Springtime in Michigan doesn’t get any better than that!
Our first task today was to go pick up my car from the fix it up place – even though we had no place to go on Friday or this morning, not having my car around was hurting me! No change to just slip out for awhile or go on an adventure all spur of the moment like!
We’ve decided, since 4 of our main bushes in our front landscaping up and died over the winter, that would would start fresh (we didn’t do the original landscaping, and have wanted to redo it for 7 years!).  Starting fresh means that we need to dig out the old and prepare for new.  We got down and dirty for a few hours doing that while the kids played around us with the neighbor kids.  A good time was had by all. hehe
Matt was pretty upset about having to come inside, even though the neighbors were leaving and we’d been out ALL DAY, so I decided to take him out to dinner and shopping; just the two of us.  We went to Cracker …

Our fabulous friends got the boys a trampoline for Christmas last year and I, for one, have been DYING to put it together and get it into the yard.
We’ve had a fair amount of decent weather, but it’s Michigan, and it’s really not Spring until May…or June…so we’ve been holding off. I was sick of waiting, though, so yesterday, Matt and I made the trek to Sam’s Club and got the enclosure net for it (and about $200 worth of other crap, of course!).
A beautiful and sunny day, it only took a couple of hours to get it fully operational. In no time, the boys were bouncing and laughing and playing. Totally worth the wait.
Later, I got in and did laps with Matt; he chased me and I chased him. And seriously? Who needs a gym with a trampoline in the backyard?!

Ever since we lost our cats last year, Mike has said that he wanted to get another one..or two.  We’ve been waiting for kittens to arrive at the Humane Society and today there were some available.  We loaded up the boys, hit the pet store for supplies and went and adopted ourselves a couple of grey and white kittens.  Tiny little things, weighing just over 2.5 pounds, just 2 months old. Wee little lassies!
We had a heck of a time coming up with names for them, especially since they were female.  Mike’s first two choices Speed and Agility were immediately overruled.  We went through a lot of names, including Pencil, Pickle, Box, Tika (those were Preston’s), as well as Pricilla, Azzy, Maisy, Kitty-Witty and Maddy-Cat (those were Matt’s).

We decided on Izzy (my idea) and Roxanne (Mike’s idea).

They’re pretty cute, eh?
The boys played with them longer than I would have imagined which made me very happy.  Daisy is beyond excited – we just have to make sure she realizes they are not moving chew toys.
Yet another addition to the craziness that is our house and life.
