There have been many great things that have happened this year (right?), but for some reason at the end of the year, all we can seem to focus on is being DONE with the year and moving on to the next. Someone said (about me) that it was “the worst year of [my] life”. I hadn’t really thought about it that way, but…
Let’s review, shall we? That way we can see what side I’m on here…
January: Rang in the new year of 2012 with nasty ovarian cysts (I thought)
February: Found out melanoma had returned
March: Surgery (unsuccessful) to remove cancer-ridden lymph nodes
April: Began (horribly terrible and unsuccessful) IL-2 treatment
May: Continued (horribly terrible and unsuccessful) IL-2 treatment
June: Got the PET scan and results from IL-2 (horribly terrible and unsuccessful)
July: Started Zelboraf as next treatment
August: Dealt with side effects of Zelboraf
September: see August
October: GOOD NEWS FINALLY! “Significant shrinkage”
November: Begin IPI treatment along with Z – new! fun! side effects!
December: continue IPI, discontinue Z. New! More! PAIN! Side effects from Z fade away, pain returns.
In addition to my health issues, my cousin has had issues with his seizures, my mom’s dog had to be put down, and I’m sure there have been a plethora of other things. I’ve been trying to keep my office going and growing with minimal paychecks (read: 0) so there has been lots of fun money stress at home, too.
Ok, so yeah, Fuck You 2012.
2013 – let me love you.

Jogging up beside you to give you a high five and say I can’t even begin to talk about my 2012 it was so horrific so I’m right there with you cheering for 2013.
I hope you kick some 2013 arse, and that it’s your best year yet.
You have been through so much this year, yet still keep plugging along. I am so very in awe of your strength and determination. Yes it’s shitty what you’re going through, but keep on keeping on and this too shall pass, right? You’ll beat this and good things will come for you, keep moving forward! Love you pal!
