Project: We See You

December 23, 2012 · 1 comment

In yet another story of the people that live in my computer doing amazing things all over the world, my friend Allison did a spectacular thing for the homeless in her area of Texas. Not only that, but she inspired other people to do the same in their own areas!

From her blog:

project: we see you

It’s Christmas time.

It’s cold outside (cool, if you’re in Texas).

It’s such a heavy time for many.

And, it’s time for me to walk the talk.

On the agenda this weekend: A trip to Costco for supplies to put in my We See You bags, which I’ll keep in my car, ready to whip out when I meet someone who could use a leg up.

I would love for you guys to join me, even if you put together just one! That’s one HUMAN BEING that you’re helping.

What will I put in them?

Blankets, sweatshirts, socks, a toothbrush/paste, energy bars, water, wipies…..

I would love your ideas on what else might be useful to someone living without.

And that turned into taking 50 bags of assorted items, along with cards that say WE SEE YOU with a list of resources to the  In Memoriam for the National Homeless Memorial, where the wonderful Allison not only handed out these bags, but also read the names of the homeless who died in 2012.

On a whim; on a thought for someone who had less, she rallied friends, family and local business (Hilton) and they provided. She put together bags for people who have nothing so that they could remember (or find out) what it is like to be cared for and to be helped and not looked away from.

She made a difference…now the question is: What are YOU doing?

Here are links to her posts about it – please click through. Perhaps it will inspire you to do something. Perhaps it will simply warm your heart to realize there are good people in the world and that hope is still alive, even in the midst of all that is wrong.
