Learning to ride

All of sudden, after months of asking if he was ready, Preston decided that he was ready to ride a bike without training wheels.

I got his pads on and he was ready.  He’s still pretty wobbly, but he did great for his first try.  He rode quite a bit on his own, so it was a successful beginning! His brother even made him a sign to cheer him on!

Congrats to Preston! That is awesome. It was very cool of his brother to make the sign.

Congrats to Preston! I was convinced until earlier this summer that my 9 year old would NEVER ride a bike. He had no interest, and sometimes expressed fear of it, but one night in June, he popped his head in the house, asked if I wanted to go on a bike ride, and suddenly, there he was, mastering a two-wheeler. It was the longest, slowest bike ride I’ve been on in years, but it was totally worth seeing how proud he was of himself!

That is awesome! He hasn’t tried since, but says he wants to this weekend again. 🙂
