Zoo time!

HA! I bet you thought this post was going to be about going to the zoo, didn’t you??

Uh…well….you’re right. 🙂

The boys and I packed ourselves up, hit Timmy Ho’s for some breakfast and set out for the Toledo Zoo this morning.  It was a bit drizzly, but the forecast was supposed to be cooler and drier, so we weren’t worried.  The boys were talkative and we were all looking for more license plates to add to the license plate app we downloaded before vacation.  {apparently, we’re just playing the game until we get all 50, summer vacation or not!}.  I had to call them out because they thought an Ohio plate was Utah based on the photo in the app – turns out Ohio has a pretty new plate very similar, but not Utah.  Then, in further proof that having children requires a very good sense of humor, a freaking UTAH plate passed us. What are the chances?!

Anyway, we arrived early enough to get prime parking and it wasn’t very busy at all.  Of course, the big draw to the Toledo Zoo right now is the baby elephant, Lucas. <insert baby talk here because omigosh! he’s soooo cute!!>, so we checked him out first.  Although we didn’t stay the whole day (holy humidity Batman!), and we didn’t see everything (um, why aren’t the penguins in the arctic area? anyone??), it doesn’t really matter because we can go back any time.  The drive isn’t bad at all (probably less crazy than going to the Detroit Zoo) and since we’re members, there’s no out-of-pocket cost unless we buy things.

It was a good day.  There was a lot of laughing and learning.

My favorites are the Polar Bears….what about you?
