Have you heard of this Fitbit thing? It’s a pedometer, but more!  Fitbit

I got one a month or so ago and could not, no matter how hard I or support tried, get it to connect to my computer (actually, I tried on FOUR different computers!) so they finally sent me a new one. Plugged it in and it worked immediately.  While I appreciated they sent a new one, it would have been nice if I hadn’t had to wait so long, but whatever.

So now I have it and I’m totally loving it! It tracks steps, calories, miles and even tracks sleep patterns if you wear it to bed. It syncs to the website so you can see your stats in pretty colors and in graph form. The cool thing about the sync is that you plug that little black thing into your USB port and if you get within 15 feet of it, your data syncs immediately!

For a long time I have heard that 10,000 steps a day is a good goal for fitness.  I honestly thought I probably walked that or at least near to that every day!! WRONG.  My first day with the fitbit I logged 4,279 steps. I didn’t even hit 5,000!

It’s funny how it’s been motivating me.  Now I want to get as many steps in as possible.  I realized that at work, I walk a LOT less than I do at home (can you say sedentary???) I keep it on all day and all night (I’m not losing credit just because it’s 3am, yo!)

On Sunday morning, I got up and went for a walk around the neighborhood (I was up early and it was nice out). Later, I did laundry, cleaned, and mowed the lawn.

I logged 18,513 steps!!  Aha!

Last night my step count wasn’t very high – all day at work and then sitting at Matt’s baseball game – so while I was catching up on the interwebs I was standing at the counter doing side steps just to keep moving.

I think I found my inspiration.

Now, if only I could do something about the food!

One step at a time (ha!)

*I was in no way compensated for this post, but if Fitbit wants to credit my account for my review, I will totally disclose the heck out of it*

It’s about $100 – so more expensive than some, less than others. 🙂
