It is 11:55 pm on a Saturday night…the excitement in my world right now? Sitting on the (hard, cold, uncomfortable) concrete floor in the basement while we wait out a tornado warning.
I hesitated when Mike said we needed to take cover because we were in a warning, for a few reasons:
1) it’s Michigan – actual tornadoes are so rare I wasn’t really worried (but then my stupid mama instincts kicked in and I realized DUH, TORNADO!)
2) I love a good storm, and I can’t hear or see anything in the basement
3) the basement is still unfinished, so the chances of the boys falling asleep = slim to none
4) my dog refuses to come in the basement
5) it severely impedes my plans of getting a snack and going to bed
But, here we are.
One kid watching Tiny Toons, the other playing with everything he can find. Mike is trying to fix a leak in the wall.
And I am still learning to type on my iPad. And drawing goofy pictures for Twitter friends.
Just another Saturday night…

Just think, if it wasn’t for the tornadoes I would have no idea what a talented artist you are. 🙂 Stay safe. And eat that snack anyway.

I wondered if you got a strong storm after reading the papers this morning. Tell Mike, my home inspector gave me a great (and cheap) tip for fixing basement walls. Drink two bottles of wine…you need the corks. Then, drill into the hole. Put latex caulk in the hole, push in one cork, more caulk, the second cork and cover the top with hydraulic cement. He claims it will never leak again. 🙂
Well in light of the tornadoes that touched down this weekend, I would think that being in the basement was a good plan.
Storms freak me out, ecspecially in-the-middle-of-the-night-ones. I always wake up and check the weather to make sure we’re not in a tornado warning. See, I live in a small town and I am always afraid they will be sleeping so the sirens won’t get turned on.
Yeah thats how my mind works.
Or I think that a tree is going to fall in the roof and crush my son in his crib while he sleeps.
Having children makes you worry too much!
Talented artist?! hehe! Glad we were able to keep each other company during all of the crazy weather!
Every time I see that picture it makes me smile. 🙂
I’m glad you appreciate my horrible artistic skills!! (Once again trying this reply thing!!)
