memorial day potluck

Happy Memorial Day (er, American friends…Happy Monday you crazy Canadians!!) Thanks, as always, to the men and women and their families, who allow us our very freedom every day.

Today is the perfect day for a Potluck Post, especially since I have been seriously slacking in the blog writing area of my life lately. So, without further ado….

Busy weekend here, from Friday until about 20 minutes ago when I finally sat down to relax.

Friday we went to the Tiger game at Comerica Park – great front row seats on the first base side in right field. Well, great unless you’re not 5 feet or taller! Poor Matt and Preston had a hard time seeing over the little wall! Alas, a good time was had by all and we got bonus snuggle time with them since they needed to sit on our laps!

Don’t tell anyone, but I fell in love this weekend. He’s absolutely gorgeous. A warm, buttery caramel, although still a little rough around the edges…the likes of him, I’ve not seen around here before and he is a welcome addition. He needs a little work, but his potential is fantastic.

Just wait until I post the pictures of him!

hehe….kidding – it’s my kitchen.  We worked all weekend (well, mostly) on painting and cleaning and putting up a tile backsplash.  It’s coming together so nicely!! Tomorrow we’ll finish the grout and  by next weekend we should have the moulding up around the ceiling.  I’ll be posting before and after pictures, just for fun!

“Hey, Soul Sister, hey there mister mister on the radio, stereo, the way you move ain’t fair you know….”

{My boys both sing along with this Train song and I love that part more than anything}

2 very browned bananas, 2 oranges, an apple, a container of grape tomatoes, a rubber yellow spider and a 2-inch round bun cutter for making mini burger buns.

And for a new feature this week…

  • The lady who rides her bike around the sub with her daughter WITHOUT HELMETS AND IN THE STREET
  • The same lady who won’t acknowledge my waves or head nods
  • My leg…it’s feels all swelly and irritated and numb.
  • The fact that I really really need a pedicure
  • All the hub-bub about where our President spent today. So long as he was honoring our soldiers, I don’t give a damn if he was at Arlington or some no name cemetery on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere.
  • The fact that people think that Farrakhan is someone who should be listened to or not taken with a grain of salt. The guy is a certifiable nut bag, in my opinion.
  • The concept that people think it’s ok to refer to our POTUS as anything but “President Obama” when they speak of him – I don’t care if he’s a purple alien from mars – he deserves respect, no matter what your political beliefs are – and referring to him by his middle name, as if that makes him someone else? Grow up.
  • The fact that no one delivers ice cream or Starbucks.

So that concludes our Memorial Day Potluck – please be sure to link if you do your own!!

The helmet thing really annoys me too!! People the don’t wear them on motorcycles annoy me even more!!

My two biggest pet peeves are:

4-5 yr olds with pacifiers still in their mouth while they try to talk, but can’t be understood because of the pacifier

while we were camping this weekend there was a one year old wondering around barefoot. while this is fine at home in your own yard, you don’t know what people have dropped at a campground. I was so afraid that little boy was going to cut up his feet or step on a nail.. eek.

You know, that’s not a bad idea: the ice cream truck should start carrying Starbucks. I’m always a little jealous of the joy my kids feel when they get outdated, overpriced ice cream from the ice cream man. I can’t even eat it, it’s so bad. However, I would definitely grab a coffee if he offered me one. 😉

O’er a Starbucks delivery service! Now there’s a good idea! On 2nd thought, maybe not. I just kicked a horrible Coca Cola habit and I can just see myself with a miserable Frap habit! LOL! 😀
