The need to purge

May 18, 2010 · 4 comments

I’ve reached the point of no return.

I cannot stand my house anymore.

It’s not just needing a full-time maid and laundress, it’s all the STUFF.

I’m sick to death of all of the stuff everywhere.

On counters, in closets, on the floor, on shelves, on dressers and in bins and storage boxes. In the garage and the basement; the playroom, family and bedrooms too.

I would like to move, just so I am forced to get rid of stuff.

The worst part is that 90% of the stuff in our house isn’t garbage (oh, how I wish it were so I could get a dumpster and just purge and be free!!). But I can’t throw away perfectly good stuff that I’m just sick of having in my house because it never gets used or is too small or is just not needed anymore.

I need a charity dumpster. (oooh, new business opportunity!).

I need a day…ok, more like a week, to just clean and purge.

I imagine I would feel so much lighter and the house would be so much cleaner and unicorns would poop cupcakes in my yard.

I really suck at doing one thing at a time, but maybe it is time to learn. To stop talking (typing), get off my lazy ass and start doing.

I’ve said I want to paint my kitchen; to take down all of the decorations above the cupboards, put up moulding and a backsplash and make it fresh and clean. Perhaps I should start there.

Anyone need a bunch of Tuscan-ish themed pots, ceramics and fake grapes?? Or have any ideas on how to tackle my house without getting so overwhelmed that I give up completely??

Dude. EBAY. You can do one thing at a time, if its too overwhelming. Start slow, with just one room, make a pile, get your camera out and go to town. NOTHING more satisfying than making a little dough off of something you didn’t need or want anyway. Trust me.

I’m not sure much is Ebay worthy – it’s mostly small, cluttery stuff. But I will certainly check out the possibility – thanks!

Ahhh my life in words. Deep breathe. Now exhale. Love you D. Now practically. Fly lady dot com taught me to set a timer for just 15 minutes and race to see how much you can het done. For me this works best o. Kid stuff if I involve them in the an and promise money for a job well done. For me just the 15 mins of purging feels so blissfully sussessful I don’t want to stop. Wish I could help. And on a greedy note. If you’re getting rid of any cars or the like my sweet boy looooves your hand me downs 🙂 and I just might need some fake grapes and stuff to decorate our new house. But if all else fails start with the kitchen redo. A fresh and clean kitchen will have a spill over effect to the rest of the.. O oh. What’s that? A unicorn just poohed a cupcake in yourbavkyard :)!!!!!! LOL
