On 36

Friday was my birthday…the big 3-6.
It was a really good day. Started with a whispered ‘happy birthday’ from Mike and ended with kisses from happy, silly boys. In the hours between, I got a manicure, a pedicure and a hot stone therapy massage. Did a little shopping on my own (got new shoes!) and then left the boys in capable hands and went to dinner at PF Changs with Mike and did some holiday shopping.  It was soooo nice.

In honor of said birthday, I thought I would share some things about me, at 36.

I AM (in no particular order):

• Starbucks Peppermint Mocha
• Friends and vigorous supporters to/of people I have never met in “real” life
• Defying Gravity
• Defying Melanoma
• Unwritten
• Writing once again, thanks to this
• Christmas music (as long as it isn’t my least favorite songs ever: Dominick the Donkey, This Christmas, Happy Xmas (War is Over) or that stupid Bruce Springsteen song…oh, and that damn David Bowie version of Little Drummer Boy!)
• A Gleek (Glee Geek is what that means, I think!)
• A Friend of Maddie
• Mama to the best, smartest, cutest little boys I know.
• Daughter to a mother who is good and kind and worries about me more than she should. And who is a fabulous grandma.
• Sister to a brother who has come a long way since our childhood together and makes me proud every day.
• Daughter to a father who, while not perfect, at least tries and makes a true effort to spend time with his grandkids and laughs more with them than I ever remember.
• Cousin to two amazing women who are like sisters to me, distance be damned.
• Wife to an truly fantastic man who not only loves me, but takes care of me when I need it and is the best father I know.
• A truly loyal friend..you need me, I’m here.
• Sarcastic and goofy
• Trying to learn so many things it boggles my mind sometimes
• A voracious reader
• a lover of good food.
• a dreamer
• so very thankful for this birthday
