*EDITED* We decided to go with the new program at Matt’s school. The consensus, even from Miss B, is that since P is timid about starting, it will be a much easier transition with Matt nearby. Plus, it will totally be easier for me!! Thanks for the comments and tweets!!

My stomach hurts because I have to make a choice about preschool by today.

We had originally signed P up for the same preschool and teacher that Matt went to – it was a good experience – Matt loved it and we loved the teacher. Young, energetic, fun, smart, Miss B. is. The schedule was going to be 3 days a week for 3 hours each day, which would be a good transition for P, having never been to daycare or with any kind of care outside of the home. And then we found out he could do mornings instead of afternoons, so that was perfect.

But then, we found out that a local daycare/preschool was going to start up having a preschool in the elementary school that Matt currently attends. Since it’s also the latchkey program, they have extended hours – 7am to 6pm, and a more flexible schedule, which means that he can start out 3 half days a week, but if he likes it, he can stay all school day, all week if he wants. There are two downsides, though. First, no Miss B. (though the teacher seems fine, just not as experienced or fun as Miss B). Second, it’s more expensive (set up like daycare, not school prices).

I have to say that I love the idea of Matt & Preston being literally across the hall from each other, and I know that Preston likes that idea too. We visited this morning and the room is fine. (needs decorations and such, but school doesn’t start til next week, so I’ll reserve judgment!) and the teacher definitely plans to run a more structured preschool for learning…

But she’s not Miss B.

So what do I do? Because I have to call her and tell her that he’s not coming now and that sucks.
But being able to walk them in together would be nice.
