Spitting mad

I don’t know what it’s like where you live, or if you even drive your kids to school, but the drop-off and pick-up process at Matt’s school is the most ridiculous, anger-inducing thing that happens during my day. Not a single day goes by that somebody doesn’t piss me off in the 5 minutes it takes me to do drop-off.

Let me illustrate for you my issues…

school1

It’s really very basic. You pull up to the school, you stop and let your child out, and then you drive on. Well, it SHOULD be simple.

school2

Except that in general, people are apparently not very smart around here and they stop in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD or straddle the area between the drop off area and the road to drop off their kids.  Which is not really all THAT horrible, EXCEPT that these people then sit and wait until their child walks all the way into the school!!!! AND if you look at them with any sort of questioning look, they glare and act as if they are doing absolutely nothing wrong.

school3

This is how it SHOULD be done. Simple, basic, to the point. Pull up. Stop. Drop off child from appropriate zone. Drive away.

Now, that’s just the pulling in and dropping off portion of the morning.  Then comes the leaving of the school parking lot. {SIGH}

exit

Simple…general common sense and it’s all good.

RIGHT? In our example above, common courtesy would indicate that red car 1 goes, then purple car drives through, then green car 2, then blue car 3, then orange car 4, right? Yeah, not so much at our school. Usually red car 1 gets to go then cars 2&4 go, effectively blocking the purple car and screwing blue car 3. ALL the time.

Or this happens:

exit3

The fracking bus drivers, SO anxious to get back to the yard and PARK THE BUS that they block the entire area, thereby causing a traffic jam of people wanting to get IN and OUT. Jackasses.

This is my morning, 5 days a week.  People are so absurdly rude and self-absorbed that it makes every drop off annoying.

How does drop off go for you if you drop off your kids at school??

OMG this is my school too! I HATE am dropoff. No one follows the rules and they all get in the way of the buses. It makes me insane.

I feel your pain. Except at my girl’s school people park in the drop off lane and actually GET OUT and walk their child into the school. ARRGGGHH.

love this topic 🙄 We pull off the side street and there are 2 lanes next to the school and it curves around to the front of the school. In the morning we only use one lane and the cars pull up and let the kids out and then they go on. We don’t have problems with buses in the mornings because they are going the same direction as our lanes but we do have the people that are going the opposite way on the side street and they want to make a u-turn into the drop off line! And there are people who let them in. I’m thinking “I ws here first, dammit!” And that annoys me 😡 In the afternoon we use both lanes to pick up kids. There is a staff member at the bus gate and they stop the cars so the buses can get in and out. They call out our kids’ names as we approach the front lane and then staff load our kids into our cars. I get pissed off at the people who come the opposite direction again! If I was on patrol out there, I would be making them get out of line and go to the end! That’s my take 😆

OMG it is the same way at our school…very simple…they even have signs and there are still people who just don’t get it…I hate the people who don’t pull all the way forward.

Didn’t mean to leave an anonymous post, Dawn! Maybe you can add re-routing the child pick-up/drop-off area for your school in your spare time 😀
