I don’t know what it’s like where you live, or if you even drive your kids to school, but the drop-off and pick-up process at Matt’s school is the most ridiculous, anger-inducing thing that happens during my day. Not a single day goes by that somebody doesn’t piss me off in the 5 minutes it takes me to do drop-off.
Let me illustrate for you my issues…

It’s really very basic. You pull up to the school, you stop and let your child out, and then you drive on. Well, it SHOULD be simple.

Except that in general, people are apparently not very smart around here and they stop in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD or straddle the area between the drop off area and the road to drop off their kids.  Which is not really all THAT horrible, EXCEPT that these people then sit and wait until their child walks all the way into the school!!!! AND if you look at them with any sort of questioning look, they glare and act as if they are doing absolutely nothing wrong.

This is how it SHOULD be done. Simple, basic, to the point. Pull up. Stop. Drop off child from appropriate zone. Drive away.

Ever since we lost our cats last year, Mike has said that he wanted to get another one..or two.  We’ve been waiting for kittens to arrive at the Humane Society and today there were some available.  We loaded up the boys, hit the pet store for supplies and went and adopted ourselves a couple of grey and white kittens.  Tiny little things, weighing just over 2.5 pounds, just 2 months old. Wee little lassies!
We had a heck of a time coming up with names for them, especially since they were female.  Mike’s first two choices Speed and Agility were immediately overruled.  We went through a lot of names, including Pencil, Pickle, Box, Tika (those were Preston’s), as well as Pricilla, Azzy, Maisy, Kitty-Witty and Maddy-Cat (those were Matt’s).

We decided on Izzy (my idea) and Roxanne (Mike’s idea).

The boys played with them longer than I would have imagined which made me very happy.  Daisy is beyond excited – we just have to make sure she realizes they are not moving chew toys.
Yet another addition to the craziness that is our house and life.

Yesterday, Preston and I headed out to run some errands, but more importantly, get out of the house. We did our part to help the economy (big time), so you’re welcome.
A couple odd things happened though…
First, I donated to Autism research/awareness at Toys R Us…so they gave Preston a sticker for donating. Cool, right? Until we got to the mall and the lady at the ‘cookie store’ looked at the sticker and asked if he had autism. I’m sure I must have looked at her like she had two heads or something, but I was totally perplexed. I mean, a) who actually ASKS that? Not that I would be ashamed or anything if he were autistic, it’s just…do people REALLY think it’s ok to be so bold?! And b)…mind your freaking business, beyotch!! And c) why the hell would my kid wear a sticker defining him as autistic? That is just strange!!
While we were at TRU, this manager or manager wannabe says to an employee “hey, [insert name here] go do that return.” huh? It didn’t even warrant a PLEASE? That’s straight up disrespectful!! I, of course, made a comment to my cashier. Her look …

I need to grow up.
I need to be accountable.
I need to start exercising for real, on a regular basis.
Because seriously, all you people around me losing weight? I’m pretty sure I’m gaining it all. You lose a pound, I gain a pound. It’s stupid.
I can’t eat whatever I want, whenever I want. It’s time to face facts.
The Coke needs to go.
The water needs to come back.
I need to wipe the dust off my gym membership card and get to it.
So, tonight, I shall begin. Again. Haircut and then the gym.
