A non off day off

November 11, 2008 · 9 comments

Tomorrow I don’t have to take Matt to school or get Preston up and dressed or even yell and laugh at the puppy for being a total nutcase.

A day off, no?

Because tomorrow I will be spending a good portion of my day sitting in a hospital waiting room with my dad’s wife.  My dad is having surgery tomorrow (robotic, which is way cool) to have his prostate removed (which is not so cool due to the whole cancer thing and all).

Sitting with her all day should be interesting to say the least.  But, I’ll have my phone so I can twitter and read blogs and such; play solitaire and bejeweled until my eyes cross.  Any ideas what I can do for the other 4-5 hours???  🙂  I almost wish I could knit, since that’s a somewhat portable hobby.  Not like sewing…it’s not like I could take my fabric and cut out patterns for my gifts, or drag my machine with me!! (Though come on, wouldn’t that be hilarious to see in a hospital waiting room?!).

So, if you have a moment to keep my dear old dad in your thoughts tomorrow, I would appreciate it.  We’re very different people and don’t have that awesome father-daughter bond that so many people have/talk about; you know that whole Father of the Bride thing? Yeah, not even close.  But, like I told him {when he told me it was nice that I would be there} he’s my dad – where else would I be while he’s having surgery?

I hope all goes well. Send me an email (with all the time and lack of conversation you will have) to let me how things went. I check my email all day at work, so feel free to email all you want 🙂

I could play hours of Solitaire and never get bored – I’m very easily entertained.

Hope your dad pulled through okay, and the time with your stepmom wasn’t too awkward.

How about a good book? That would keep me busy. I can’t remember the last time I read for a couple hours.

Hope everything goes well with your dad.
