Laughing so hard my stomach hurt

November 1, 2008 · 3 comments

Today has been a good day.  The best part? When Preston fell off the swing.

Yes, he’s fine.  Yes, I laughed at him…but before you get all judge-y and stuff, HE was laughing too.  And I did wait until I made sure he was ok before I laughed (mostly).

I decided that it would make the day even more fun to draw some illustrations for you.  (I’ll never be able to do it as well as her, but it’s fun to try!)

So, here we are…I’m pushing the boys on the swing…see how happy we are?

And see how fast and high they are going?

And see how happy Preston is, specifically??

And then, SUDDENLY, the swing was EMPTY!!

Where’d he go??? *(Where’d WHO go?! – props to anyone who knows where that line comes from!!)

In the blink of an eye….

He flew out of the swing and landed flat on his back in the rubber mulch.  As I ran over to him I said “You let go!!” And my boy, flat on the ground, just about to cry from the shock of flying through the air said “You PUSHED ME!!”

And that set me off.  Of course I pushed him, I was pushing him on the swing!

I gathered him up in my lap and hugged him close. We went back and forth for a minute about me pushing vs. him letting go, while Matt went in search of Mr. Bear and juice. By the time Mike came to the deck to see why Matt had come running in the house, I was starting to crack up. And then? I couldn’t stop.

Suddenly, the very idea of Preston flying through the air and landing flat on his butt was the funniest thing I’d seen in a long time.

Luckily, Preston agreed with me, because when he first said “Mom! It’s not funny!” and I replied with “*snort* yes, yes it was! *snicker*” He gave me the look, but then started giggling along with me.  We must’ve sat and laughed for 10 minutes.  Neither of us could get a grip; I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt. (of course, as out of shape as I am, it was a fabulous ab workout, too!!)

FYI: This is my first post of NaBloPoMo – consider yourself warned that there will be much silliness to come in the next 29 days.

I said to Hollywood “Whar’d he go?” and Hollywood said “WHAR’D WHO GOOOO?”
Top Gun is one of my favorites. Although not nearly as funny as this story. Kids are awesome for the laughing, right?

OK This kills me – I love when kids blame the parents for stuff that didn’t actually happen ‘that’ way.

I got the ‘Mommy hit me’ for pushing The Dictator on a swing at the park. That just makes me sound BAD! GAH!!!!

I think you are selling yourself short on the animation…great work! Before long you will find yourself hoarding markers for yourself and sitting in public hunched over a clipboard laughing at yourself. It isn’t pretty, but I warned you…

I love that he said, “you pushed me”…classic.
