Welcome to my life..my family..my world..unedited.

I love to sing in my car, when I’m alone (or sometimes with the kids, but mostly alone).  I swear I sing as well as whoever I am singing along with.  (FYI: the only way I could carry a tune is if it were in a bag and I was holding onto it).
It is, oddly, one of my very favorite things about being by myself – listening to music REALLY loud and singing even louder.  I’ve been known to seriously lose my breath singing so hard and loud.
So I thought I would make a playlist of songs that I HAVE to sing when they come on.  You know the ones…the same ones you catch yourself singing when you hear them in stores; the ones that you just have to belt out…

This is the view on a nearly daily basis from my front porch. Two smiling boys driving, playing, laughing. Best view I’ve ever seen.

My doctor is supposed to come back on Monday from his medical leave.
I’m not entirely sure he is ready. He sounded a LOT more prepared and excited about coming back when I talked to him last week. Now he seems anxious about it and I honestly think it has more to do with his lack of paycheck than anything else. I totally understand, BUT, if he comes before he is really ready, it could end up even worse for all of us.
Even though we never ever discussed anything in regard to short or long term leaves (7 years ago when he was hired!), I thought it kind of went without saying that if I had to pay other doctors to cover his ass while he was out that there would be no way to pay him his usual salary. I mean, yes, as a benefit I cover his medical insurance (btw, can you say freaking absurdly expensive?!?!), but he pays for his own liability and professional insurance. So it stands to reason that mr. I’m-here-to-take-care-of-the-office-and-you could handle getting his own short term disability or AFLAC* or whatever.

I honestly didn’t realize that other people said “I’m your MOTHER, not your (fill in blank)!”  I say it to Matt all the time.  My blank filler is personal assistant. [ I want to use the word slave, but geez, then I have to deal with the negative connotations of that, not to mention explain to the kid what it means. Thanks, but I'll leave that little tidbit of our history up to his teachers!]

My husband is a good man.  He is loving and kind. He has a quick sense of humor and he always says thank you. <inside joke, sorry>.  He will do pretty much anything for you if you ask.  (unless it’s home improvement related…he just really doesn’t get into it much).  He likes to be at home; he likes to be with his family; he’s a fantastic father.  He’s done well for himself – was very involved in sports, even going so far as coaching at the high school he graduated from; he got training and got himself a good job as well as a fair number of college credits, all on his own.  He was raised with lots of family around, including an older sister, and a number of years later, a younger one. His best friend growing up was his cousin and to this day, they can pick up a conversation as if they never stopped talking – whether it’s in person or on the phone, whether days, weeks or months between.  He’s never been a tremendously publicly affectionate person; nor is anyone in his family (well, except his niece, but she is truly an anomaly).  That is not …
