Mike’s job is safe (for now); he made it through the latest round of cuts with someplace to go every morning still.  I was sweating it all day – eating like an idiot, generally worried and anxious.

Of course, that’s nothing compared to what he’s been going through, especially as they dragged this round of cuts out…rumors started months ago, cuts were supposed to have started weeks ago. Every week it was supposed to be next week until finally yesterday it was supposed to be Wed or Thursday.  I got a phone call this morning that it was going to be today.  It was a tense few hours until I got word that he still had a job to go back to.

Morale there is in the toilet, to say the least.  And although he loves his job, his workplace obviously leaves a little to be desired.  Luckily he’s good at his job and not (!) at the top of his pay scale. He apparently had just enough seniority to stay.  Hell, there they could have rolled the dice or picked out of a hat for as much sense as some of the things they do make.

Either way, we’re counting our blessings tonight.  Celebrating with beer and pizza and watching the boys Matt play in the pool next door (Preston doesn’t get in the pool with Matt & the neighbors for some reason).

So I’m going to turn off my computer, walk through my thoroughly messy and sloppy and generally disgusting house and go out and join them.  I’ll check in later…I have another post swimming around in my ahead about parenting styles…

xoxo Gossip Girl LOL! I need a closing line/signature!!

I am so relieved to hear about Mike! Todd and I were wondering about it, but we were afraid to call and ask if Mike was “in danger.” Let’s hope this is the last round of cuts for a LONG time. That is A LOT of stress to work with.

Glad to hear your hubby survived the cutbacks at work. I know how that is…it happens in my husband’s field all of the time here. He is in the computer science field (Systems/Software Engineer for commercial and private planes). They keep outsourcing jobs out to India which is really sad because you go to school for a long time to specialize in something and they keep sending out all of the jobs. What line of work is your hubby in?

Amy 🙂

Amy – I work in the automotive industry. I can’t even come up with a humorous adjective here. 🙂

Good to hear he made it through the cuts. I am sure you were both extremely stressed. Prayers for you that there wont be anymore cuts for a long time!

Please to hear he was left alone in his position; it does give you more breathing room at least. I can not imagine the stress of working for a company that announces cutbacks. I think I would be walking puking mess.
