The Great Green Bag Experiment

[Yipe! 2 posts in one day!!!]

As you may (or may not) recall, Matt has a thing for infomercials. His biggest love has been the Debbie Meyer Green Bags – he told everyone he saw for days about those things; we see used-car salesman in his future. Anyway, as luck would have it, we were able to find the As Seen On TV Green Bags at our local Target. So commenced the great green bag experiment of 2008. Skeptical, as I am of most things on infomercials (even though I can’t stop watching them), I figured these were a waste of money, but to appease my crazy wonderful son, I would give it a try.

So, I threw some fruit in these lovely, and literally, green bags and started our experiment. I did apples, bananas, grapes (green and red) and strawberries.

Here are the banana results – what do you think?

Day One Day 5 Day 7 Day 10 Day 11

Looks like these crazy things work!! 🙂

Hey, LOVE the Green Bag Experiment. Gooooooo you guys, because Patrick always tries to tell me how we should get those and I’m always saying it’s a scam….but maybe not!

So I started my own blog. It’s still pretty lame right now, and funny enough motivated BY PATRICK, as he wants me to be the vehicle to start a Mom’s Networking site in NH.

Anywhooooo I linked to your site on my blog. Check it out!! http://granitemoms.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=1573551%3ABlogPost%3A281

Yes, Virgina, the green bags really work! My green leaf and spring mix lettuce has lasted over 3 weeks. These bags (but different brand)are sold in health food store for twice the cost of Debbie Meyer’s Green Bags. I even bought some for gifts and my friends love receiving them!

Geez,
Am I the only one who has NOT been impressed with these green bags? The only thing I can see they are good for is bananas. I had strawberries, broccoli, and tomatoes all go bad in a matter of days. So I will not recommend them to any of my friends!

I’m interested in saving the variety of green and yellow beans we buy and store in the fridge from going bad. Do you think it’s because they are stored in the fridge that’s the issue here… and does anyone have any 1st hand knowledge of whether or not they can stay longer without going brown to the point where we throw them out approx 3-5 days after purchase?
Thanks

My wife is VERY upset and disappointed with the performance of the Green Bags. None of the vegetables or fruits used with the bags (tomatoes, strawberries, chives) have lasted ANY longer than if they had not been in the bags. The tomatoes went bad and moldy very quickly. All of the ads seem SO great, but are simply a marketing ploy. These things simply DO NOT WORK!! We will NEVER purchase again, and will warn all of our family and friends to not buy them as well.

TRASH!!!!

I purchased on line and there was an offer of by one and get one free. One set had a sort of zip lock and the other was just a bag (no closure) can’t say I am impressed but have only used the ones with no closure maybe they sent the wrong bags?

Ashamed to admit that I fell for this nonsense. THE BAGS DO NOT WORK. I CAN’T SAY IT ANY PLAINER. Cannot believe that I spent that much money on some stupid green tinted plastic bags. Live and Learn!!

I used the green bags for bananas and the outside stayed very nice and yellow but the inside was mushy and had an odd taste. I will not buy nor use them again and too bad the guarantee is not longer than 30 days because I threw money down the garbage the same as if it was over ripe produce when I bought the bags.
