In the past week, I’ve stayed awake later than intended a few times. But there were two specific times that it was worth the sleepiness in the morning.
Last night I finished this book. It was really good. Here’s the synopsis for you from Amazon:
From Publishers Weekly
When Kamryn Ryn Matika gets a call from college friend Adele Del Brannon, she reluctantly heads to the hospital where Adele is dying of cancer. The two had been odd couple friends (working-class Ryn is black, posh Adele is white) while attending Leeds University, but their friendship did not survive Del’s admission of an affair with Ryn’s fiancé Nate Turner, which also ended Ryn’s relationship with Nate. The affair did result, however, in the now-five-year-old Tegan, and Del has called Ryn to ask her to adopt the adorable girl. Ryn agrees, but must face down Del’s stepmother, Muriel, to do it. She finds surprising help from new boss Luke Wiseman, who, after meeting her unceremoniously, loves Tegan (and eventually Ryn, too), but the return of Nate, who doesn’t know Tegan is his daughter, promises to reopen old wounds. Koomson’s U.S. debut is a three-hankie delight. (Mar.)
First, I have to say that there wasn’t much …
Worth staying up for
eleventyhundred
that may very well be one of my favorite made up words. Others would include gihugeous and squee!.
Anyway, that great word is a simple indicator of how much crap i have to do and, as you can see, how much i am not getting done by sitting here and blogging. (Did I tell you how much my new keyboard rocks? It’s the new mac keyboard, all stainless and slick and the keys practically type themselves.) .
In addition, that word is also an indicator of how many times I would like to pummel the woman in my neighborhood who is totally arguing about our association bylaws and my yard without any facts whatsoever on her side. I cannot even explain how angry it makes me when people fight against things that (a) really have nothing to do with them [she lives on the opposite side of the sub from me], (b) don’t have any facts to support their case and (c) make shit up just so they can keep arguing. Oh, and she can’t write a coherent sentence to save her freaking life, so every response on our homeowner yahoo group is like playing a freaking game of Jeopardy without …
What in the world?!
Ok, I don’t get it.
WHY exactly are mattresses so expensive?
I mean, really? A thousand dollars and UP?!
Alright, it get that it’s important, and used for many years, and amortized out it probably isn’t that bad, but the upfront cost is absurd! I’m not driving it or living in it or anything.
Alas, something must be done (about my bed, not the mattress industry).
Anyone have any experience with a mattress topper? They seem to sell tempurpedic style, as well as feather bed style. Waste of money or something worthwhile until a new mattress? Hmmm….
Something has got to give, because although my chiropractor is working wonders, I still wake up stiff and sore and I know it’s from sleeping like a goober on a crappy mattress.
Did someone say cars?
Because we have some if you need any…
Um, and since I didn’t do the halves right, there’s a couple rows missing from the middle I think. Plus, after we were done? I found more cars in the bathroom. (They were taking a bath, apparently.)
Oh, and since I am a freak, we brought home more Cars movie cars from Target today.
And if you click on this cute thumbnail, you can see the full picture.
Ok, so I didn’t get the pictures of my lanyards uploaded, but I do have them. My employees? Loved them. (Or they fake their enthusiasm very well. Either way…).
My pictures from the water park? GONE. Long story short, the idiot at Target Photo exposed the film before processing. See why I only love my digital these days?? If we went to the water park more often or lived near the beach, I would totally have one of these. But trust me when I tell you my boys are totally adorable soaking wet, and the look on Matt’s face was priceless the whole time we were there.
Matt is having poopoo problems again. I can’t figure it out. He actually eats well, he drinks a ton of fluids and gets exercise like crazy. But it seems like every couple/few weeks, he has this problem. I think he doesn’t feel like going because he’s playing or busy or lazy or something, holds it in, and then it’s a huge problem. But, no matter the cause, it totally sucks for him and us.
My friend is going through a big bad family thing lately and I feel so bad for her. Her nephew …
