Sick and tired, part 2

March 17, 2008 · 1 comment

While getting ready to go to lunch yesterday (Preston was fine), I started to not feel quite right. Chalking it up to being hungry, we headed out. By the time we got there, I knew it was hitting me. Then I couldn’t wait to get home. Since the flu hit everyone different, I got both ends at once! Woohoo! I spent the rest of the day in bed or in the bathroom. The exhaustion that comes with it had me falling asleep in front of and on the toilet; the sleep that is full of strange and unusual dreams so vivid I couldn’t figure out where I was at times.

Finally, about midnight, I allowed myself some crushed ice and a wee bit of Canada Dry.

A little before or after that, Matt threw up. Mike resigned himself to calling off work and being up all night. At about 6, he came to bed and said he hoped I was feeling better because he couldn’t go up the stairs one more time.

So, Matt seems fine, talkative as ever and feeling fine (though I am being cautious and allowing little to drink or eat thus far). Mike is in bed, Preston is still sleeping (!) and I’m trying not to look at the disaster of a house while I lounge on the  couch chewing on ice. I’m not fully better yet. It’s going to be a long day.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day…have a green beer for me!

The worst part for each of us lasted about 24 hours, the next day I felt at least human though weaker than ever. I lost 6 lbs in two days that week! So I hope you are all feeling much better tomorrow!! Rest and fluids!!
