The boys and I were out shopping yesterday (yipee, new shoes! yipee, IKEA!). When we got out of Ikea, I checked my phone, as usual, since there is NO signal in that big metal box. I slid my little slider thing on my iPhone and it stopped halfway across.
HUH?
I tried again. Same thing. I looked more closely and saw a long line leading up from my home button into the screen.
ACK!
I ripped my screen protector off, hoping against all hope that my optical-trained eyes were not really seeing a crack in glass. I rubbed frantically at the screen.
Cracked. Under the top layer. My beloved iPhone – cracked!!!! I clearly panicked. I showed the boys (because heaven knows, my 2 and 4 year olds would (a) feel my pain and (b) be able to fix it).
Once we got home I looked it up online. I called Apple. Chances were not good that I wasn’t going to have to shell out the big bucks to replace it. I was sad. When Mike got home I made an appointment and rushed out to the Apple Store to see what could be done.
The friendly Genius took one look and said “Oh, good, it’s just a hairline crack. It’s covered. Let me get you a new one.”
Really? Dude, I love you!
So I walked out, with a brand-new (refurbished) iPhone, some new cases and a game for Matt. And it’s pretty. And since I sync’d it before I left, all I had to do was plug it in to my laptop and ALL my stuff was back on it. Magic! 😀
Oh, and the crack? I totally think that one of the Ikea shelves must have landed on my phone, which was in my purse in the bottom of the cart.
Lesson learned.

Do you like your iPhone? They look neat, but like you were describing, I would be so worried it would break, leaving me to buy a brand new one!
I have such phone envy
