Whoops

So, there I am, taking a nice, long shower – kids otherwise occupied. I had turned on the radio, nothing important, just some background music from a local channel.  The first song was some popular song, not quite appropriate for kids, but hey, who cares, I’m alone, right? Then the next song, a blast from the past, comes on – Let’s Talk About Sex – and while I’m sudsing up and dancing around, the boys walk in.

Uh. Crap.

My music? LOUD.  The word sex in that song. OBVIOUS.

I did the obvious tactic – talk to them so they listen to me, not the song. It may have worked.

And that song that would normally be like two and a half minutes long? It was like 10.

Mike and I try really hard to be careful about saying “bad” words. And if they happen to say one on tv or something, we look at each other and silently beg that they missed it.  But we never make a big deal out of it, because then I know they will.  Thus far we’ve been lucky, but I am certain that it’s only a matter of time.  I could easily gloss over profanity, but when they ask what the word sex means? Well, %$@#.

I'm so bad about that, I always listen to my music in the car and on SIRIUS, it isn't generally edited. Every once and a while punkin pie will "try out" a new word on me. We let him know it's not a "good word" and thankfully he's old enough to understand. If only I could get hubby to stop using the "f" word. I suspect little man will be trying that one next- hopefully not in public!!
