I am a total comfort food eater when I am stressed or upset. I had planned to work on my diet and exercise this weekend, but since our visit to the vet yesterday? Not so much. I just ate a big ol serving of macaroni and cheese (yes, it’s nearly midnight) and am drinking Coke. Not diet Coke like I had planned when I finished my last 12 pack of regular coke. Maybe next week, eh?
I’m curled up under blankets on the couch with Maggie. And I’m watching….not a chick flick…though I did scroll past You’ve Got Mail, Father of the Bride and Sweet Home Alabama on my Apple Tv*. Nope, no chick flick for me (seriously, I do NOT need to cry more right now!) I’m watching SWAT. Colin Farrell, LL Cool J….tough, hot badass types. That’s what I call a comfort movie.
I am feeling extraordinarily chubby these days, but with all the stress and crap going on, I know that any attempt to make major changes would backfire. I know I could make excuses for the rest of my life, but that would backfire as well, health-wise. So next week I will start with small changes…more water, less soda, smaller portions. And exercise.
But for tonight, I need comfort – so movies, bad food, soda and a warm, dumb dog are working for me.
How do you deal with stress and sadness?
*Apple Tv is by far the coolest thing EVER! Although it has taken us some time (and 3 computers worth of effort) we now have over 100 movies on it. It’s like have a 100 disc DVD player. You can just scroll through, find what you want, and watch it! It’s linked to iTunes, so not only do we have a ton of movies and tv shows on it, we have all of our music as well. It’s a ton of fun and super easy to use. And since you can put album/dvd covers on the menu, the boys can pick stuff to watch without being able to read. Woot! Pretty soon we’ll be able to rent movies through our Apple Tv, too! So fun! And photos! We can link it to our photos and look at them full size on our television. Yes, we are technology geeks.

(We got Apple tv recently, too, but haven\'t yet put so many movies on it. Wow! Over a hundred? That does sound cool. Mostly we have some show episodes that we bought of iTunes. Like the new Terminator/Sarah Connor series. I have enjoyed having the music handy, though.)
Oh, and I agree that this is not the time to start in with lifestyle changes. This is a time to go easy on yourself. Go easy on yourself!
Monday? I start the gym.
:S
Don\'t worry, you\'ll get back on track, once things start getting better for you. They\'ll only get better right! You are just getting all the bad stuff out in the beginning so the rest of the year will be smooth sailing.
You guys have all the cool gadgets, that is so awesome. You could write reviews on all the top gadgets. I\'m envious!!!!
