the other shoe dropped

You know that feeling when you’re just waiting for something bad to happen? When you just know something is wrong?

My aunt died this morning. My uncle found her this morning. She’d been sick in the past, but not recently as far as we know. At this point, I have no details, but she’s gone. She has two sons my age, and a young grandson whom she adored. We’re waiting for more information.

Hearing my dad sobbing on the phone? Worst. Thing. Ever.

I don’t wanna be a grown-up anymore.

(Oh, and Mike and I have agreed it’s time to say our goodbyes to our loving dorkdog. He’s had 14 good years and we can’t stand seeing him so sad and lethargic and wasting away anymore. Now we just have to tell the boys. SIGH)
