Unshed tears and other silly things

No matter how many times I’ve seen Toy Story 2 (and trust me, I’ve seen it many times!), I always find myself choked up and teary-eyed when Jesse tells Woody about being Emily’s toy and how she was her whole world. The song kills me every. single. time.

I was trying to put the video of Sarah McLachlan singing here, but YouTube is fighting with me, so go HERE and listen.

No matter how many times I watch You’ve Got Mail, I always get a little teary when it comes to the part with Kathleen decorating the Christmas tree and talking about her mother. The bookstore in the movie is exactly the bookstore I dream of owning, right down to the shelves and floor; for whatever reason, this fictional story breaks my heart every. single. time. When she shuts out the lights for the last time in her store and sees herself with her mother, twirling? Sniffle. Of course, it is, ultimately, a love story, with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, so I adore it. I would honestly watch either of them or both of them together doing laundry. And if I could magically transform myself into ANY celebrity? It would be Meg Ryan in that movie.

No matter how many times I’ve seen Armageddon, (hehe), I can’t help but get wet-eyed at the end. His life passing before his eyes and the love for his daughter? Best part of the movie (aside from the animal cracker scene, hehe).

At odd and random times, I find myself channeling Rose (Kate Winslet) from Titanic…Jack! Jack! I’ll never let go, Jack. I’ll never let go…. for no reason at all.

In that same random channeling, Mike and I have been known to walk around saying One Hundred Meeellion Dollars!! from SWAT. 🙂 (It’s at about 1:28 in this preview). And sorry, I know opinions are varied, but come on – Colin Farrell is hawt in that movie; and don’t get me started on LL’s abs! 😉

We actually quote a LOT of movies in our house. The usual suspects: Caddyshack, Stripes, A Few Good Men, Cars.. off the top of my head, but many more. One day, I should get the boys saying movie lines on video and post it…lines from A Few Good Men are the most hilarious.Like our music selections, we watch a wide variety of movies. Mike more than me these days, but if you could see our dvd cabinet, you would either be amazed or impressed (or repulsed?). Just what I can see from where I am sitting includes Slap Shot, The Chronicles of Riddick, The Big Lebowski, A Christmas Story, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Ocean’s Eleven, You’ve Got Mail (hehe), Star Wars (all of em), Forrest Gump, An Affair to Remember, Empire Records and a variety of tv show dvds (Six Feet Under, Mad About You and Rescue Me are visible).

What movies do you like? Hate? Do you ever quote movies (and if so, which)?

Beaches with Bette Midler. I love that movie, it\'s a real tear jerker. I like many quotes, one in particular: CC Bloom: But enough about me, let\'s talk about you… what do YOU think of me?

Nine months with Hugh Grant. Another good chick flick. I\'m glad I didn\'t get this vulgar during childbirth, but maybe I was thinking it, haha. Gail Dwyer: I hate you! You did this to me you miserable piece of dick-brained, horseshit slime-sucking son of a whore bitch!
Marty: That\'s perfect! I got it all on film, the kids will love it!

Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze. Blast from the past, but still a good one. There are many good quotes there, but I like… Johnny: Nobody puts Baby in a corner. Why in the world did they call their 17 year old daughter Baby? That\'s like calling your son Richard… Dick… I just think it\'s wrong.

Oh well, it\'s late, there are a few of my favorites, old school, yes, but I haven\'t been much of a movie buff in several years. And I quit buying them, we have many cabinets full of VHS, that we will never watch again. I\'d rather watch something new. So every now and then we\'ll do blockbuster online or netflix. As for the movies I hate… any sci-fi movies… can\'t stand them! And yes, I find myself quoting some of the famous movies sometimes.
