I’m the reason

September 20, 2007 · 8 comments

Apparently, according to a b*tchy lady in an ugly white car at the bank today, I “am the reason we have the issues we do today”.  Wow.  I’m WAY more important than I thought!!

I was going into the drive-thru at the bank.  Picture it with me, eh?  Two lanes, two cars at the thingy-majobbers.  White car lady parked right in between the lanes.  Uh, no.  See, you may wait for the next available teller (cashier, associate, whatever) in one line at Best Buy or Joann or even inside the bank, but not outside.  At least not at this bank (or any branch I’ve been to).   So I paused, albeit briefly, behind her in my car.  I saw that the one person’s tube thing was coming back to him, so I went around her to the opposite one.  That’s right, I didn’t cut in line, I simply moved forward behind the guy that was still being helped.

Woman honks at me, then pulls slowly up next to me, shooting evil death rays  glaring at me.  Well, I’m a bit of a smart ass and can be a bit snotty myself, so I  looked over and said “What?” and she just looked, so I said “go ahead, it’s open for you”.  And she actually keeps staring, so I stare back and then she says “Don’t you talk to me! You don’t know who you’re talking to!” {Which, by the way, is the most overused, cliche line in the history of history}. So I said “Does it really matter?”  And she says “Yes!!” So, I simply mutter ‘whatever’ and gesture for her to move ahead and say, ever so kindly, “You can go and do your business now” to which she replies (still shooting evil death rays staring) “Don’t tell me what to do! You are the reason we have the issues we do today!” And with that, she pulled forward, to the sound of me going “WHAT?!”.  I’m sure she was still staring, but I couldn’t even bring myself to look at her again.  My kids were in the car, you know.

So, apparently, the issues we have today are all my fault.  I sincerely apologize to all of you – whatever went wrong for you today? I’m to blame.  I mean, the lady told me so!

Of course, I can’t help but wonder what those issues are:  lines at the bank? high gas prices? unemployment rates? the fact that no one can make candy corn like Brach’s? the war? religious intolerance? homophobia? the fact that Joann never has the dumb Cricut cartridge I want even though they keep the empty box out?

OH…wait…was she talking about racial issues?  I mean, she was African-American and I am as white as they come.  Wow, I mean I’m to blame for a lot of things wrong in my life, but seriously?

Hope your day is going better than my chance encounter with a crazy lady.   🙂

I am so, so sorry you had to run into her today.
Sheesh.
She sounds like, at the very least, she could use a hug.

Well, it\'s like my Dad\'s best friend said, \"Some days everything is your fault. You must learn to accept this.\" 🙂

I\'m always looking for someone else to blame since, as a mature adult, I have learned that we must accept responsibility for our actions. But in this case I\'m off the hook and I\'ll let you be responsible for my actions! Oh shoot! It\'s already past midnight and it\'s a new day! Who will step up to the plate and fill your position?

Nest time, run her over! Then she\'ll have a valid reason to complain!
