9/11

I read an article the other day about honoring those lost 6 years ago today and I was angry and shocked as I was reading it. I didn’t know anyone who died that horrid day, but I felt the tragedy as deeply as anyone. A person quoted was talking about how there should be a limit to grieving. How she was tired of it all. That it’s been 6 years and isn’t it time for the tributes and specials and talk about 9/11 to just stop? And I couldn’t believe that someone who lost nothing that day had the gall to say how long people should grieve. She compared it to Pearl Harbor, saying that we don’t honor that day anymore, so it’s time to put it behind us. DUH. I wasn’t alive during Pearl Harbor – it has no personal, emotional impact on me. Remembering tragedy is generational. The people involved back then will always remember. And 9/11? I remember. I always will.

I will honor those lost in my heart and soul. I will remember and I will watch tributes and specials and read articles because it was an important day; things changed that day, and unfortunately, not so much for the better. But no matter the politics, the lack of completed memorials, a war that seems endless and irrelevant, no one has a right to put a time limit on grief.

And here is something nice to come from tragedy. What will you do to make a difference today?

I agree that people need to move on with their lives, but how could we ever forget!!!??? WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET! The terrorist threat still exists, as much as it did this day six years ago! It\'s important we never forget so those responsible are caught and brought to justice! Unfortunately the latter has not happened, may never happen, so how could those who lost loved ones move on until it does. It\'s sad, but they may never find closure.
