Exercise thwarted

Ever feel like the universe is trying to tell you something?  Today, I believe the universe wants me to be fat and out of shape.  🙂

This morning, the dog had to go out, so I was up by 7.  I thought it would be the perfect time to do some yoga and get myself ready for the day.  HA!  Part way through my yoga (just as I was really getting into the groove) Matt woke up.

(PAUSE)

Matt comes downstairs.  I get him all set up in the playroom.

(HIT PLAY)

Matt wants to do yoga, too.  (PAUSE) But not my yoga, he wants to do his kids yoga dvd.  Had to get out a mat, set it up, set the video up… (PLAY)

“MOM! I need a diaper change!!” (PAUSE)  Go in, change boy into underwear for the day…. (PLAY)

Finally finish up my yoga episode. Seriously, a half-hour show with commercials and I couldn’t even get through it at 7 am!  LOL.

Fast forward through the day (don’t worry, it was pretty boring) to tonight.  Preston in bed early, Matt watching Mickey Mouse Halloween in the playroom, I decided to go on a bike ride.  No biggie right?  Went on one last night, felt great.  Riding down the road, I see something dark ahead, probably a stick, so I want to check traffic and avoid it.  Just as I come up on it, I realize it’s not a stick it’s a SNAKE!  EEK!!  Just missed it.  I briefly wonder if almost hitting a snake is some sort of bad omen.

I keep going and head to my office to grab some papers I need, then head back out.  Decided to take a round about way home to get some good miles in as I was feeling good.  HA!  Got about a mile and a half from my office (about 4.5 from home) and got my first ever flat tire.  DUDE!  Naturally, I had my cell phone on me, so I called my dad to come pick me up.  Why my dad, you ask?  Well, Mike was at home with one, possibly 2 sleeping kids, so he wasn’t going to be much help.  And my dad lives right near where I was.  Luckily he was home and was able to come get me, otherwise I would have been hoofing it in the dark (which came really fast tonight, btw).

So my exercise for today? Done.  Some better than none, but geez, talk about exerciseous interruptus!!

And just to throw in some dad issues – the first thing he says to me is “I didn’t know you were still riding your bike”.  Loosely translated? That means – wow, it’s about time your fat ass got out there and did something! or how can you possibly have gained that much weight and still been riding your bike? My dad has issues with people who are overweight and/or out of shape.  He’s old-fashioned or just ignorant, but either way, there it is.  So what did I do?  Sucked in my belly and said yep – gotta get back into shape sometime!  Meh.  Speaking of dad issues – he and she want to take the boys to the local “beach” tomorrow.  They even offered to take the boys without me! (Yeah, keep dreaming!!).  Here’s the problem….the truth?  *I* don’t want to go.  Yes, the boys would have fun with them; yes they would have fun in the water.  But me? I don’t wanna.  So I pulled the ‘we’ll have to play it by ear and see if the boys are up to it tomorrow’ card.   We’ll see what happens.

For tonight, I’m off to find a snack and go read in bed.  I’m beat.  You know, getting a flat tire will do that to a girl.  🙂

Like Jen says, at least you are trying! I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago and I haven\'t exercised since!! My plan: to go running with Baby after dropping punkin pie off at school. Just waiting for this crap hot weather to break! Also hoping baby will drop his morning nap soon so we can do Jazzercise in the AM again!
That\'s crap your tire went flat! That is always my worst nightmare! Since my Tri I keep a can of Fix-a-flat duct-taped to my frame!

Oh I am with you girl! SERIOUSLY. As if it\'s not bad enough being the only overweight one in my family of minature people, but to have kids is to constantly feel defeated in our efforts! But keep it up cuz, it\'s all about the effort. One day we will prevail!!
