Perhaps I’ll take up golf

August 26, 2007 · 5 comments

We ended up golfing yesterday, even though it completely down poured on us on and off until the 17th hole. Then, of course, the sun came out and it cleared up nicely! I say we, but really I mean Mike and the neighbors. I mostly laughed, drove the cart, laughed harder and tried not to laugh. I did hit some balls, but man, do I suck!! ๐Ÿ™‚ When I was trying to hit the ball, I totally missed it. Then I just swung like a freak and hit the ball (and a large amount of grass and dirt). Putting would seriously be my only decent skill.

That said, I have this new desire to learn how to play. It was really fun and I think it’s something I could actually do and be decent at! I’ve never wanted to play before – it seemed extraordinarily frustrating and useless to chase around a little white ball for hours. But after yesterday? I want to play! I think it’s because sometime between the last time I played or hit the driving range and now that I’ve learned how to laugh at myself a bit more. Yesterday when I missed a few times and then just hauled off and hit the ball, I was totally laughing while yelling SHIT; I wasn’t mad at myself.

Who knew – golfing = life lessons about self? hehe.

Pictures to come!

It does sound like a great time.
I wish I shared your enthusiasm for golf.
But the plain truth is that I can\'t swing a golf club to save my life. You wouldn\'t think that it would be so difficult.
But apparently I am just not coordinated enough.

Funny, my hubby went through the same life changing experience! The last time I golfed, I teed off first (god knows how I got in that situation!)in front of my whole department for a company outing and totally made a fool of myself and missed the ball or hit grass 6 times! I think I am still scarred from that event…maybe you could teach me! ๐Ÿ™‚
