Of scrapbooks, storms and flies

A brand new scrapbook store opened a gazillion miles away nearby and I was dying to check it out.  A smart me would have waited until Mike got home from work and then left him and the kids home while I played.  The stupid adventurous me took the kids. On grand opening day. To this place. It was busy, but truthfully, not horrid.  The lines snaked through the store, so that made moving around with the boys in a stroller a little challenging, but it was fine.  The boys? Actually, they were fabulous.  They got a bit cranky by the time we got to the front of the line – I ran out of fruit snacks, they drank all their juice and Preston stopped playing with cars and started throwing them. But they made it through with minimal screaming and whining.
I figured they would be done and ready for home after that. Matt’s response? But I want to go to another store!  :)  Who’s my boy?

A huge line of storms came through the area in the evening.  I love a good storm.  I admit – I am one of those idiots that stands in the window watching. Lightning is amazing to me; thunderstorms are so spectacular at times!  Of course, that’s because I’ve never been in a tornado (warnings, yes) or had a damage or injury done to self or loved ones from a storm of any sort.  Anyway, the storms basically passed both north and south of us and we only had some thunder and lightning and rain.  Apparently, there were up to 5 tornadoes in the areas north of us; pretty severe storms in surrounding areas.  One of the alleged tornadoes (have to wait til the weather dudes get to town to confirm) hit in the town where Dr. K lives – he’s on vacation this week. Eek.  Hopefully his house will be intact when he gets home!

Matt has decided that he wants to scrapbook, too.  A couple weeks ago I bought him some stuff at Michael’s; yesterday he added a couple things to his collection.  Then I decided that it would be a good idea to set him up with some space in my room to do scrapbooking.  2 reasons: (1) I can attempt to get some scrapbooking done at the same time and (2) I might be able to do some scrapbooking!  :D  So I spent hours last night reorganizing and moving and making space for him.  If you  come over, do NOT open my closet doors.  That is a project for another lifetime day.

Finally, there are 3 2 flies in my house that just WILL NOT DIE.  Normally, we’ll find a fly here or there around the house, just on the floor or windowsills all dead and stuff.  These flies? Superflies or something.  First, I keep missing them with my newspaper flyswatter and second, they are relentless with being on and around all of us.  It’s my new mission in life to rid my home of these 2 flies before they drive me to drink.

Well, we’re supposed to go golfing with the neighbors in a couple of hours.  Not sure the weather is going to let us – it’s pretty dark and stormy out there right now.  And even as much as I like storms, I’m not about to stand on a wide open expanse of grass with metal clubs nearby ala Caddyshack.

Oh, and no, I don’t golf.  It’s been easily 10 years since I’ve picked up a golf club for any reason, and these crazies think I can round out a foursome? Oy.  Yes, I will bring the camera if we end up playing – should make for good laughs, anyway!!

Yeah, what WERE you thinking??!! Glad it worked out for you- sometimes when you expect the worst, nothing eventful happens!

I love storms too, something about being all safe and cozy in your house and watching the wonder of nature go by is really cool. Though I am sure those with flooded basements and damaged houses would disagree.

Cool that Matt wants to scrap with you! What great bonding time! With your influence, he will get an A in art no doubt when he starts school!!
