It’s My Life

(Bon Jovi) Song chosen because (a) I heard while I was grocery shopping tonight and (b) because the line: “I just wanna live while I’m alive” cracks me up!! 😀

I’m not sure what it is, but they always seem to play best songs to sing along to at night at the grocery store. Mind you, not the best songs, just the best songs to see along to. 😉 Grocery shopping at night has become nearly fun. After a long day working around the house and hanging with the boys, going shopping for an hour or so seems like a real treat!

*Note to self – Supernanny tip – goggles might help with shampooing of kids’ hair – no worries of getting soap or water in eyes!

I got a surprise mistake phone call from my cuz this evening. We live similar lives, albeit in two different states. She has 2 adorable little girls, a bit younger than mine, but close enough for us to feel the same pains and wonders and mama feelings.  She mentioned bing crazy and I had an instant feeling of relief.  Lately I’ve been feeling overwhelmed between being home more with the boys and at the office less, not to mention the usual household chores, so it was very nice to hear her feeling the same way.  We laughed about our priorities these days: #1 for both of us today was getting a shower.  It’s comforting to know she has days like I do!  🙂

I went to pick up my prescription at the local drug store tonight and the young clerk called me ma’am and I stopped short and laughed out loud. While I’m not crazy about being called ma’am at my age, I did enjoy the politeness factor of it and told her that I appreciated it.

While I was at the grocery store tonight a couple was making comments back and forth about the Starbucks brand of premade coffee drinks and about the ‘evil empire’ and blah blah blah.  Consumerism people!  Supply and demand.  You demand, they supply – it’s simple really.  If you don’t like Starbucks (or whatever), then don’t buy it and get other people to feel the same way and not buy it as well!  Drives me nuts – don’t like it, don’t buy it.  Don’t like certain music or shows or whatever, turn it off!  Free country, ya know?

An Open Letter to Sirius:

Dear Programming People,

While I was certainly confused at the inital change on my Traffic & Weather station from Det-Pit traffic and weather to Det- LV (Las Vegas (!)) , I did learn to enjoy hearing about traffic and weather in a city that I truly enjoy.  However, recently, I have become confused again, as it seems my traffic and weather are being replaced at times by NBA coverage.  And not only NBA coverage, but Pre-Game coverage as well.  Certainly I am not an NBA fan, but that is irrelevant.  Why are you taking away my traffic and weather?? It’s SNOWING here and I NEED to know what my traffic issues and forecast are!!

Sincerely,  A Confused Subscriber

😀

Preston’s new bed is coming tomorrow morning!  I’m pretty excited.  I bought him some sheets of his own (that Matt already wants to borrow) and some new bed rails, so keep your fingers crossed for us that he adapts well.  We’ll keep his crib in the room for a few days just in case.  Once the new furniture is in there, I know I’ll be anxious to repaint and decorate!

Shameless mama bragging:  Matt is getting really good at his letters – knowing what they are, understanding upper and lower case, and knowing what sounds they make!  Tonight he was writing some of them!    I’d love to take credit, but I have to give thanks to Leap Frog’s Letter Factory.  Catchy tune, fun graphics and he’s interested!  He’s got it on his Leapster game thing and on DVD, so the repetition is there.  Next up: Word Factory!  😆

Isn\'t it sad that grocery shopping alone is something we find enjoyment in these days? The 15 min shower I take after the kids go to bed is about the extent of the alone time I get everyday and I love it!!! I too am feeling a little overwhelmed at times with two kids- I would go insane if I worked too. But it\'s crazy to find time to not only spend time with the kids but get things done too. Dont be so hard on yourself, you figured out what not to do, and you won\'t do it again. But life is about balance and sometimes the scales tip one way or the other. Life is all about learning how to keep things in balance, but sometimes you just can\'t, but you can just do your best!
