[Thursday, Jan. 25]
Had a good day at work, got home to happy boys and was super surprised when Mike snuck in with a Wii. I’d been wanting one since before Christmas (and I am so not a video game player, but that thing just looked fun!), and every time we hit a store, we checked stock, thinking it’d be spring (or the 5th….of never!! lol) before we got one. Imagine my surprise when I saw it sitting on the kitchen counter!! So Matt & I were goofing around with it, making Mii characters in our images, and attempting to bowl and golf, and Mike was making dinner. Preston was in the ‘cooking’ area where the boys, well, ‘cook’ (they use their learning tower and play with the toaster oven (unplugged) and various cooking utensils and dollar store spices). It’s not unusual for one or both of the boys to “help” make dinner. Preston has known hot for quite awhile now and we remind him constantly, especially while in the kitchen. Unfortunately, there was a horrible accident and Preston touched the burner on our stove on Thursday night!!!! Mike said he watched it happen in slow motion and couldn’t do anything. Sometimes I think that’s worse than the actual accident – the inability to stop something bad from happening.

So, while Preston screamed, Matt hid in the playroom and I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off, running P’s hand under water, trying to figure out what else to do. It was horrible. Mike called the doctor and we were both unsatisfied and surprised when they said to just keep cool water running over his fingers, give him Motrin and call if they blistered to dime size. 😯 Seriously?! Within a few minutes of his screaming and my inability to calm him down AT ALL, we packed them up and headed to the ER. Preston finally stopped sobbing about halfway there, and Matt was okay. It’s sweet how worried he gets about his brother. He just kept repeating, Poor Goog, Poor Goog… mattleapster.jpg

Matt kept himself occupied with his Leapster, but as soon as they finished putting the bandage on his brother’s hand, he was ready to go back out to the waiting room.

That was the worst – Mike had to hold him down while two nurses wrapped his hand up. Although he was trying to pull his own fingers off because of the pain, he didn’t want anyone else touching him!

poorgoog.jpg My poor baby!! Not even a popsicle would calm him down.popsicle.jpg (Although Matt & I did enjoy them – we were starving!!)

CAUTION – GRAPHIC!

phand.jpg  Here’s the blisters, the next afternoon. Nasty, aren’t they? They broke open today, which is what the doctor was hoping for.  So now we just have to keep putting the cream on them and wait for them to heal.  Poor kid.

Matt, pretending he had a stump of a hand yesterday.

stump.jpg     phandwrap.jpgPreston’s “can’t believe I have a stump of bandage for a hand” look.  He’s actually been in really good spirits, considering what he’s been through.

So that’s been my weekend so far, how’s yours?  😀

We did go pick out a new bed for Preston’s room.  He’s a little young, but like his brother, he seems to sleep better on a bed where he can roll around a bit rather than be trapped in his cage crib.  We’ll see how it goes.  Hopefully it’s not just that he likes sleeping with us!  ;)  But at least with a bed in there, one of us can crawl in bed with him instead of bringing him to bed with us.

And in the nest news of the weekend, I got a new cellphone / PDA.  Wanna see it????  blackberrypearl8100_l.gifSAWEEEEET!!!!!! Ain’t it?   I was totally sick of being unorganized – phone in one hand, Palm in the other and I just wanted to have an all in one.  And the phone is awesome!!!!!! Once I learn the blackberry interface a little better, I’ll be pretty smooth.  And once I get some photos and music on there, I will be cool!!  Pretty fun!

I\'m very jealous you have a Wii. We\'ve been searching and searching. What store did you get lucky at? I\'m so sorry to hear about P\'s hand, OUCH… that looks painful. What a weekend you have had so far, I hope tomorrow is uneventful for you!

Hubby went into Best Buy in Dearborn to get something for his computer, looked down and saw it. He asked the guy \"Is that a Wii?\" and the guy said yes. Apparently a few minutes before, someone bought two and another guy walked up after and bought the last one! They supposedly restock on Sundays. 🙂

Poor little Preston! Those blisters look yucky! My oldest daughter, now 11 burned herself on a curling iron when she was two. It was on her wrist. It took a long time to heal. With Preston\'s burn being on his fingers (with all those extra nerves, etc) it is good that you took him in.
