Feels Like Rain

Perfect song in honor of tonight’s epi of Grey’s Anatomy. Holy crap, halfway through and I’m laughing and crying and just completely touched by this show. Definitely the best one of the season so far. (Ok, I’m bawling now at the end….damn).  😥

Of course, I might be a little more emotional right now because I’m watching a medical show and it’s just smacked me across the head that my step-dad has cancer. The big C. Lung. Stage I, and only in his left lung so far, but serious none the less. It’s funny because I am so strong and confident and optimistic for my mom and for him, but the reality is, he has Lung Cancer and it’s pretty freaking serious. He’s scheduled for a lobectomy on the 31st. The man has never been in the hospital for anything, and this will be the second time in a year. Not bad for someone in his 70s, eh? So, obviously he’s a pretty healthy guy, but he started smoking when he was very young and just quit a few years ago for good. Anyway, maybe it’s denial, or avoidance or whatever but I never want to believe that bad things like that will really happen.  I feel like if I say He’ll Be Fine, then he will be.   Like all people should be fine if they just think they are.  Obviously, the world doesn’t work that way,  there is a plan and a cause and things go the way they do.

So, assuming all goes well the surgery, he’ll have to be in the hospital for at least a week and then 6-8 weeks recovery. He’s always been super active and never sits still for long, so he’s going to be bored out of his skull.  Time to start gathering up some books and puzzle books and such for him.   🙂

Oh, get this, the dorkdog ran away last night.  We totally had NO IDEA.  Maggie had been in and out a hundred times and suddenly, I’m folding clothes and the phone rings. The lady on the other end tells me she has my dog and I’m all “HUH??”  She describes him, says she got our number from his collar (duh, how else would she be calling?!)  Turns out he was about 4 houses down.  Thankfully these people stopped and called us!  He’s always been a bit of a runner, but I think he’s gotten worse since Mags came along.  Nice mom, though, eh? I didn’t even KNOW he was gone!!!  I think collars and tags are in order for both dogs AND the kids!!!  😀

I am sad to hear the news, I know he\'s a good guy. This must be tough for your family, please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Will be sending all my positive energy his way.
