OUCH!

I twisted my ankle today. Wanna know how? Too bad, stop reading then. 😀

Matt was helping his daddy wash the truck and Preston had to be part of the action, so that meant I was out there as well. P. is running around all silly and soaked, and I’m bored. Well, until he started going for the street at the end of the driveway. So I go down there and am kind of dancing around and he’s laughing and then he goes toward the grass and sprints back, so I have to do something similar. Well, graceful, I am not. I took a step and then was on my ass in the road. If it hadn’t hurt so bad, I probably would have started laughing because I’m sure that it was hilarious to see [like my fall on the ice last year behind my car – longer story, but I’m laughing just thinking about it and I know Kimba is too, just reading this!!] (For the record, we still don’t have asphalt up to the curb edges in our neighborhood, so it is very uneven). Of course, Mike comes running and the boys head for the road! My ankle and elbow and hand hurt like the dickens (whatever that means) but I thought I walked off most of the injury. I continued on with my afternoon, cleaning, laundry, playing with the boys and then I noticed my foot started to hurt.

And hurt.

And hurt some more.

And within about 2 hours of having landed in the road, I couldn’t put any pressure on my foot at all.

So here I sit. Ice on my foot, foot on a pillow, my fat butt on the couch. It hurts! I can’t believe in all of my clumsy life I’ve never twisted an ankle. Broken toes (yes, plural), fractured other bones in my foot, even broke my tailbone. But never so much as twisted an ankle.  I had no idea it hurt so bad.  And why can’t I walk on my toes or heel? OY.

I am jealous of my cousins, being New Englanders and all. They go away to fun places like “The Cape” for the weekend.  Where do we get to go? NOWHERE.  I mean come on! They’ve got Cape Cod, they’ve got the Hamptons and all sorts of great places and we’ve got the Great Lakes? B-O-R-I-N-G!!! 😀

I sure hope my foot is better in the morning. I’ve got a lawn to mow! Potential shopping to do! Cleaning, laundry, the whole nine yards! And it might actually be sunny! (right…)
