How I Spent My Saturday

April 29, 2006 · 2 comments

(I feel like I’m writing a paper for school or something! :D)

My son is a big fan of Thomas the Tank Engine. I fought it at first. I’m seriously bothered by vehicles with faces on them (don’t get me started on Jay Jay the Jet Plane [shudder]). But then we bought him one little train. Then they started reading the books in school. And now, well, it’s over. We have books galore, DVDs, wooden and die cast trains, and after today we have a whistle, a pillow and more books and more trains. Oy. Oh, and we’re up to three t-shirts and a very large helium balloon as well.

Anyway, we went to see the aforementioned Thomas today at Greenfield Village the Henry Ford today.
Yes, it’s a real train…

Waiting for Thomas to come down the track…

Sitting in the passenger car with daddy…

Sir Topham Hat

The obligatory huge helium balloon

A good time was had by all. 🙂

hehe.. looked like fun! NEVER compare Thomas to the likes of Gay-Jay the Jetplane. My brother (who is now 16) grew up watching Thomas and because of good ol\' american televisual adaptation, \"Shining Time Station\".. (that\'s the real work of evil associated with Thomas) There was something strange about seeing Ringo Starr as \"Mr. Conductor\" .. not as strange as George Carlin, but still. I found this because I was looking for pictures of Sir Topham Hat, for a joke.. http://www.churnet-valley-railway.co.uk/thomas2.j…..this real-life version kinda creeps me out more than the cartoonish-mascot.
