What do I do now..or…I think I need a personal trainer

As soon as the boys were in bed tonight I jumped in the car and went to the gym. I was totally gung-ho – iPod loaded with songs and vids, new workout clothes, funky fresh new Adidas shoes. 😀 I walked up the stairs and paused. What do I do now???? It’s not like I’ve never been in a gym before, but I was totally intimidated this time. I got a drink of water and sat myself down on a bike for 25 minutes. LOL. Then I hit some of the machines – a couple abs and the ol hip ad- and abductors. After that I kind of lost myself again, so I jumped on this strange stairclimber/elliptical machine that concentrates on the glutes and hamstrings. By the time I was done with 10 minutes on that, my feet were on fire and tingly, so I called it a night. I had wanted to go swimming, but the suit I bought (without trying on) at Target today was horrible (can you say back fat?), so I skipped it. Tomorrow I shall try again. I don’t want to get discouraged, so I think I’ll get a little fitness consultation that is included in our membership and go from there. Personal trainers are a wee bit expensive, so we’ll save that as a last resort.

Am I skinny yet? 😉

I highly recommend getting a personal trainer. It kept me motivated, got me into a routine, and made me go to the gym because I had an appointment, so I couldn\'t skip out for any lame excuse. My first one tried to kill me, didn\'t she know I was out of shape? I hurt for a week. But then I found a trainer sent from heaven, and he made me sore, but I didn\'t feel like I was going to die, so it motivated me to keep going. And I got results listening to him. If a trainer shows you nothing else, at least you\'ll know how to use all the equipment. Which gym did you join? I have a Bally\'s membership. I was really into it when I had the personal trainer and was seeing great results, but it was getting to expensive for a trainer, plus paying the gym membership. But if you see results and it keeps you motivated, then it\'s worth every penny. I\'d say 6-12 sessions and that\'s plenty to get you into a good routine, and show you great results. And those results will make you try even harder to achieve more results. I always have an excuse. My excuse last year was being pregnant, now my excuse is… hmmm… I\'ll have to think of one. And I am sure I\'ll think of more than one, I am full of excuses. It\'s a shame after the baby was born, I lost all the pregnancy weight and then some, and now I am back up there, at my top weight. Me and my husband joined the gym, we have finally paid it off, since they hook you in a 3 year contract, but he hasn\'t gone in over a year, and it\'s probably been 5 months for me, I think we have one year left. It was nice pre-kids to go together, like having a gym partner, someone to compete with. But just like buying exercise equipment for the home, it eventually just collects dust. We just got a bike, I swore I would sit and watch tv and go on it every day, that lasted a day, ha!!!! Oh well, you gotta keep trying, good luck!!!! Those precious kids should be enough motivation to keep you going, so they have a fit Mama and that you will live to see your great grandchildren. That\'s what I keep trying to tell myself. But of course I jump off the bandwagon, but you gotta just jump back on. It does feel really good once you\'ve exercised, but getting yourself to exercise takes lots of effort. Oh well, that\'s my novel for the day… take care! Did you get my email?
