What’s so important about Easter?

That was the title of the Sermon on Easter Sunday. Yes, we went to church, now breathe. 😉 We aren’t heathens, we’ve just been trying to find our own adult way over the years. See, I grew up with the whole Sunday School, every Sunday church attendance in a pretty old-fashioned Lutheran Church. Aside from few experiments of my mom’s (which we weren’t allowed to skip or question until we were “old enough to decide for ourselves”), good ol Emmanuel was our Sunday morning home. I was baptised there, I took my first communion there, I was married there. Anyway, over the years, I stepped away from the building, but not from faith. I’ve never stopped believing, never stopped praying. I’ve explored my spirituality and faith and have determined that above all, I don’t feel like I need to be in a specific building wearing special clothes at a specific time to be spiritual. Or to have faith. N-E-Way, we went to church on Easter Sunday, found out [;)] that the resurrection is what’s so important about Easter…not colored eggs, not chocolate, not good food with the family. I, of course, already knew that.
My sons, however, do not. So this was their first real church experience. P. was fantastic – enjoying the music, the words, the people (even flirting with the ladies next to him!). Matt wasn’t as excited, in fact in the beginning, he wanted to go home, but he came around. Did he get anything out of it? Truthfully? I doubt it. But, we’ll try to go more often and give him the religious base he needs to question it when he gets older. 😀

Loved your Easter pictures and your post. I\'m glad you\'re again going to church. It seems a good thing to do. Check out my site. I have some Easter things and pictures of my great-grandson. Blessings, Shirley
