Happy New Year!
Less than one hour from post-time here, it will be a new year. 2006. Man, when I was a kid, I didn't really believe we would ever leave the 1980s, let alone make it into the 2000s. Of course, 30 year-olds were O-L-D then, too.
I am glad that so many are going to put the bad times behind them and start fresh in the new year – sometimes all we need to get back into a good place is a new date on the ol calendar. Hmmm…perhaps the new year magic will be magically for my son and his sleep habits…..
Anyway, I didn't have too bad of a 2005. Let's recap, shall we?
2005 – Year in Review
- Found out we were having baby#2 (hereby referred to as Peanut or Little Man)
- Bought out of my franchise agreement, made many cuts and changes around the office (including not paying myself for months), got reinstated to the insurance company we needed and are nearly thriving. Had the place painted and refreshed. Had the usual employee ups and downs, but seem to be on track as of this exact moment.
- Went to Chicago for my cousin's wedding and got to visit …
Buh-bye 2005, Hello 2006!
no sleep
Well, Christmas is over and all through the house, every kid is stirring and nowhere near quiet as a mouse. Small Boy was up for hours last night (woke up wet and wouldn’t get back into bed ) And Little Man…well, he’s learning to sleep without being swaddled, so that’s a challenge as well. Not to mention he didn’t sleep yesterday hardly at ALL, and with the whole sleep begets sleep thing…well, it sucked last night. Bottom line. Of course, Little Man is laughing and gooing and such right now, so it’s hard to be mad at him.
It appears that the world, fate, God, whatever you believe, works in mysterious ways. I assume that since we have kids that don’t sleep that we are/will be blessed with something totally awesome in exchange. A few nights of sleep might be nice, but hey, since my kid is going to be the next Bill Gates (Steve Jobs) or the next Brett Favre (or whoever), then I guess I can give up some sleep for awhile.
I’m getting organized for the new year. I actually have a whole list of resolution type things, but organization both at …
Overwhelmed
wow, I’m starting to get a little overwhelmed here – all of a sudden. It’s just hit me that I’m not done with the kids of a good friend…and we’re doing our Christmas on Friday. Ugh. Not to mention I have 3 more personalized gifts to make and I’m not quite sure when I can fit that in. Well, probably next week when Nom is off, but it feels so up in the air right now! But please don’t mistake this for crazy holiday stress – I love making things and shopping and wrapping and making cookies, it’s just that it’s a bit tougher now with 2 small ones, especially since I want the Little Man to start napping on a more regular basis in his crib (which is where he is now and has been for over an hour )instead of his carseat. Of course, it’s difficult to be in the office or out running errands when I’m at home. Luckily, this time of the year, being in the office isn’t that big of a deal, but come January, things will need to change….somehow.
Anyone want to take a guess at how peeved the little man will …
